BibleReader for Mac

Posted by on November 24, 2011 in General, New Release | 2 comments

Olive Tree has just released the Mac version of its excellent BibleReader app (blog announcement here, and short video intro here). For the first time, this well-known program for mobile devices is made available for desktop systems running Mac OS 10.7 (Lion) or higher.

The application can be downloaded for free from the App Store, and current BibleReader users will be able to access all their titles when logging into their accounts. Here is a nice BibleReader for Mac overview, as well as a Quick Start Guide.

For those who already use BibleReader on an iDevice, the user interface will be quite familiar. Although I haven’t upgraded to Lion yet, and thus cannot install and use the program, I must say that BibleReader has the prettiest UI of all the Bible software apps currently available for Mac, as well as many interesting and robust features for Bible study and research.

  1. The only thing that’s really missing for me is a true dual-pane view like the iOS and Android versions have. My primary Bible is the Spanish RVR60 but I like having the KJV in a second pane for comparison. Other than that, I like what OT has done so far and expect it’ll only get better with time. In fact, for just reading, I’m using it over Logos and Accordance, although I do use the latter two for study since that’s where all my resources are. But a great 1st effort on the part of Olive Tree.

  2. Hey Donald,

Did you know that you can open a second pane within BibleReader for Mac? You can. Simply click on the Tools & Notes icon at the top right of BibleReader and then click on the Library tab. Once your in your library you may open whatever book you like from your library to read it side by side with your favorite scripture. This works really well when comparing two translations and reviewing commissaries along with your Bible reading. You can also access Notes, Search Results, My Stuff (a collection of your Notes, Bookmarks, Highlights, Book Ribbons & Tags) and the Resource Guide from this area of the application. I hope this helps. :)
