The latest major upgrade of e-Sword has been released. Version 8.0.4 includes, among other things, a localized user interface (currently available in Afrikaans, Czech, German, French, Slovak and Spanish) and support for deuterocanonical books. Whats new in ESword 8.04? You call it a major upgrade. The only thing user can do now that we couldnt do in the past is change text colors? What a disappointing wait ! The user interface had never been updated since its creation. I cant remember a significant change in the past 2 years. ESword is losing ground fast. People would like to look at a software that has a XP or Vista look…not a Windows 3.1 look and feel.

Thanks for your comment, Steve.
Actually, you are quite right, I’m afraid. It is common practice that major releases are given a different number. So, e-Sword 8 should have been a major release (being, as is the case, an update of the previous e-Sword 7.x). To be honest, I think this program is rapidly lagging behind when you think of similar freeware applications. It has a very wide and faithful user base, but it has become obsolete in many ways.
