ISP Problems

There have been severe problems with my blog over the past week or so due to some hardware/software maintenance and upgrading work carried out by my ISP. Things should get better by next week, when I manage to install the latest version of Movable Type. Thanks for your understanding and sorry about the inconveniences.

Blogging Resumed

After a long series of technical problems, everything seems to be back to normal. Apparently, Movable Type doesn't like server changes. That was the cause of the problem.

Still some tweaking to do, but at least I can blog. But since we are enjoying some days off, blogging should be light (at best) for the next couple of weeks or so...

Comments and Trackbacks Disabled

Spam comments and trackbacks have been a real pain in the neck ever since I decided to give Movable Type a try. Besides, apparently some spammers were exploiting some security hole in the previous version. As a result, both comments and trackbacks have been temporarily disabled. Just send me an email if you want to get in touch. Thanks!

Got a Complaint?

A couple of days ago I received an email from Peter Laitres that I thought I would share with you. He makes what I believe is a valid complaint. Here is what he has to say:

I have Quickverse MAC Gold (also had White [gave away] and Black [upgraded to Gold]). There is a fault in the programming that makes it so any word that is the FIRST IN A VERSE will not return in a search. For example, search "WINE" in the find window and Proverbs 20:1 WILL NEVER COME UP! This is true for any word and certain other instances where there is embedded code (like footnotes) that are attached to certain words. I have contacted QuickVerse support REPEATEDLY and finally one of them said, "yes, this is an issue" but nothing has ever been done. I think it is awful that they are selling software that doesn't work properly! How many messages have been incomplete or preaching in error based upon their bogus searching?

I called Quickverse the other day and demanded a refund or free upgrade to the new version out of QV MAC to see if this has been fixed. Was told the supervisor was on vacation and would call me back. Well I'll be calling them back one way or the other. I think others should be exposing this fraud.

If any of you have anything else to say on this, I'll be happy to post it.
